Before we dive into the activation steps, let’s clarify how Quiltworx and Quiltster work together and what makes each unique.
How Quiltworx and Quiltster Teams Work Together
While Quiltworx and Quiltster often collaborate closely, we’re two separate companies with different roles:
Quiltworx is a pattern design company known for its foundation paper piecing patterns created by Judy Niemeyer and her design team. They design the patterns, run workshops, and curate the Quiltworx Box Club experience.
Quiltster is an independent digital platform that allows quilters to preview, customize, and color Quiltworx patterns (and many others!) using real fabric swatches inside the Quilt Planner.
Think of Quiltworx as the creative pattern designer and Quiltster as the digital planning tool that helps you visualize your masterpiece before you sew.
Quiltster partners with many quilting companies, designers, and shops. Quiltworx is one of our longest-standing and most beloved collaborations.
Activating Your Quiltster Free Trial
Each Quiltworx Box includes a brochure with a coupon code for your free three-month Quiltster trial. Here’s how to redeem it:
For New Quiltster Members
Visit quiltster.com/subscribe to subscribe to Quiltster.com. During the sign-up process you will:
- You must use the same email address you used to purchase your Quiltworx Boxes.
- Enter the Quiltworx Box coupon code in the “Coupon” field under Payment Details.
- Click “Start My Subscription” to activate your free trial.
For Existing Quiltster Members
Log in to your account at quiltster.com.
- Go to your Account page
- Enter the Quiltworx Box coupon code in the “Coupon” field.
IMPORTANT for existing members:
- If the email you use for Quiltster differs from the one used to purchase your Quiltworx Box, the coupon will not work. In this case, you’ll need to contact customer service to provide both email addresses in order to connect your accounts.
- If you already have a coupon code on your Account that is not a Quiltworx Box coupon, adding this one replaces the old one, and any unused time from the previous coupon is forfeited. Please contact customer service if you need help managing coupons.
How to Check Status of Your Free Trial
Your free-trial status, start date and end date can be found at any time, right on your Account Page at Quiltster.com.
Here’s how to check:
- Log into Quiltster.com.
- Go to your Account Page
Renewal Date & Amount
Displayed at the top of the Account page under Current Subscription. Renewal amount which will show $0 during your free-trial period. Once your trial period ends, your account will automatically transition to your regular subscription plan in which case it will show a renewal amount other than $0. To avoid being charged, cancel your subscription prior to the renewal date.
Quiltworx Box Start & End Dates
Displayed under Quiltworx Box Coupon section. This section will only appear if you have a Quiltworx Box Coupon activated.
How to Add More Quiltworx Box Free-Trial Months
If you’ve already activated a Quiltworx Box coupon on your Quiltster account, adding additional free-trial months depends on when you purchase your next boxes.
Scenario 1: Your Quiltworx Box Coupon is currently active
Action: Do nothing!
If your Quiltworx Box coupon is still active and you purchase additional Quiltworx Boxes, you don’t need to do anything!
Our system automatically detects new Quiltworx Box purchases linked to your account (we check every 24 hours).
Once detected, your free-trial period will be extended automatically. No need to re-enter the coupon code.
You can confirm this by visiting your Account page at quiltster.com about 24 hours after your purchase, where your updated trial end date will be displayed.
Scenario 2: Your Previous Quiltworx Box Trial Has Ended
Action: Re-enter Quiltworx Box Coupon Code
If your free-trial period ended and your account has reverted to a standard paid subscription, you’ll need to re-enter your Quiltworx Box coupon code on your Account page to start a new free-trial cycle.
Once reactivated, any additional Quiltworx Boxes you purchase will again be detected automatically and added to your account within 24 hours, just like before.
What Happens When Your Free Trial Ends?
When your Quiltworx Box free-trial period ends, your Quiltster subscription will automatically transition to a standard paid plan based on the option you selected when you first signed up.
Here’s how it works:
If you chose the Monthly Plan: your subscription will automatically renew every 30 days for $9.99.
If you chose the Annual Plan: your subscription will automatically renew every 12 months for $99.00.
You can always see your upcoming renewal details on your Account page. At the top of the page, under Current Subscription, you’ll see a note that says:
“Your subscription will auto-renew on [date] for $[amount].”
If you wish to continue your membership, no action is needed. Your subscription will renew automatically on that date and your credit card on file will be charged that amount.
If you’d prefer not to be charged after your free trial, simply cancel before your renewal date. You’ll continue to have access to Quiltster through the end of your free-trial period, and your account will not be billed. Please contact customer service to cancel your subscription.

How to Cancel
You may notice that the “Cancel Plan” button is no longer visible when you are on a Quiltworx Box free-trial. This just means you’ll need to contact customer service to cancel your subscription. This way we can make sure you don’t forfeit any unused time and get you what you need.
What happens if I Cancel Early?
If you cancel during your free-trial period, any remaining trial time is forfeited.
