About Us

The Origin Story

Quiltster was created by software developer Billy Niemeyer after years of growing up in the quilting industry alongside his mother, Judy Niemeyer, founder of Quiltworx. What began as a solution to help Quiltworx shops and customers better visualize quilt projects, eventually evolved into Quiltster, an independent online Quilt Planner and Marketplace designed for quilters and quilting businesses across the industry.

That unique combination of quilting expertise and software development helped shape Quiltster into a tool designed specifically for the way quilters actually plan projects.

While Quiltworx operates as its own company and Quiltster partners with many brands across the quilting industry, the early collaboration between the Niemeyer family and the Quiltster development team helped bring the platform to life.

While Quiltster has grown into its own independent company, the close collaboration between Quiltster and Quiltworx continues today, helping create tools and experiences inspired by the real-world needs of quilters, quilt shops, designers, and fabric companies.
