You asked, we listened! We’re excited to share a few upcoming changes with you. In October 2023, you will see new search and filtering options in the fabric stash. The idea is to enhance search capabilities beyond company, designer and collection names to make it easier for you to find what you need to plan projects and spend more time sewing.
New Features
The three updates coming in October 2023 are as follows:
#1: One Stash to Rule them All!
Quilting Fabric
The big difference here, is the fabric section in the Quilt Planner (Fabric Stash) and Marketplace (Fabrics) have been combined into one resource called Quilting Fabric.
Previously, if you were in the Marketplace and wanted to see Quilt Planner fabrics, you’d have to leave the Marketplace section then go to the Quilt Planner.
With this new update, you can stay on the same page and simply toggle the Purchasable button on and off to switch between the two states.
Quilt Planner view
When entering Quilting Fabric from the Quilt Planner section, Purchasable is toggled OFF.
* Purchasable toggle OFF – fabric that may be used in the Quilt Planner. This includes purchasable and non-purchasable fabrics.
Marketplace view
When entering Quilting Fabric from the Marketplace section, Purchasable is toggled ON.
* Purchasable toggle ON – fabric that may be purchased either through the Quiltster Marketplace or as part of a custom Quilt Planner project.

**This change addresses the public facing fabric stashes. Fabric stash views located inside the app in the block editor and yardage chart already function in this way and remain unchanged.
#2: Collection Previews
You will see what we’re calling, Collection Cards, added to the fabric stash. Each collection card features four random fabrics. The idea is to give you a feel for what each collection offers, without scrolling through page after page after page before moving onto the next collection to see what it is.
This new view of collection cards saves valuable time by displaying several collection previews on one page, making your fabric search more efficient.
Initial search – OLD view Initial search – NEW view
Click into a Collection Card, to view the entire collection and add favorites to your stash. From there you can open a dedicated page for each fabric for a closer look at the design. Previously, this deep dive was not available in the Quilt Planner so we’re excited to provide this view so you can get a really close look at each design.

***Collection cards will be in the main fabric stash under Quilting Fabrics only. Fabric stash views located inside the app in the block editor and yardage chart will not have collection cards at this time.
#3: Release Year
Filter collections by the year in which the fabric manufacturer released the collection. This is one of the highest requested features and it is finally happening!
The Release Year is defined by the fabric manufacturer and indicates that a collection is either already on the market or will be shipping to shops in the coming months. We publish Release Year based on the manufacturers website at the time the collection is added to Quiltster.com.
How it Works
- Collections released in January 2023 but shipped in August 2023 will show up in search results for Release Year 2023.
- Collections released in October 2023 but shipped in March 2024 will show up in search results for Release Year 2023.

Older collections that do not have a release year or ship date will be filed under “uncategorized”.
***Release Year is currently being published in the main fabric stash under Quilting Fabrics only. Fabric stash views located inside the app in the block editor and yardage chart will not have release year filters at this time.
Coming Soon!
We’re not stopping there! In the coming months be on the lookout for more feature updates. Here is a sneak peek of what’s in store for the Fabric Stash.
Ship Date
Filter collections by the date the fabric manufacturer starts shipping to shops. This date indicates a collection is on the market available for purchase. More to come on this as we get closer to releasing.
Theme
Filter collections by the theme of the fabric. Think brights, dots, holiday, kids, nature, novelty, patriotic, plaid, swirls, seasons, solids, stripes and much much more! More to come on this as we get closer to releasing.
Type
This feature allows you to filter by the type such as wide backs, Quiltworx strip sets and more.
